For The Love of Youth

This is the continuation for the previous post, i kinda went off topic for the previous one. but its still good nonetheless.hahaha

Anyway, this concerns one of the movies i wrote in the previous post

Dead Poets Society ! :)

To the uninitiated, D.P.S has a simple premise. It's a story of how a school teacher inspires his students to seize the day , or in other words, Carpe Diem ! For me, it was the perfect movie to explore my past experiences in boarding school. Heck, not to brag or anything, in the movie, the principal himself praises the school as the best preparatory school in the country, so in a way i could relate to how those boys feel. the pressure people put on you is immense. You have teachers constantly berating you with assignments, you have parents constantly filling your mind with their thoughts on you and what you should be.Thankfully, they also covered the other aspect of these teenspiration movies ( thats not even a word, but it so matches the theme of the movie) hahaha.

Im talking about the characters themselves, each one of them, Neil, Meeks (who i relate the most too i think), Cameron, Knox and a whole slew of others. They all are totally different yet still the same at heart, one is a total romantic who grasps the concept of Carpe Diem to an extreme which i hope to emulate, because it was just plain ballsy ! haha. The other was the victimized dutiful child. the i-want-to-be-A-my-dad-wants-me to-be-B-everything-unrelated-to-B-is-bull-and-therefore-cannot-be-a-part-of-me type of child. Inspite of all this, all the boys still share the same heart which was

To find themselves
To woo women
To find what is it with this thing called adulthood, and why the hell are our parents asking us to think about it so much

My favourite scene of the movie has to be the one where Robin Williams tells us why do we need language

Keating: Why do we need language ?
Perry: To communicate ?
Keating: *kicks foot on bell, NO ! thank you for playing Mr Perry
To Woo Women !

*Everyone breaks into laughter

The Shakespeare impressions were also a joy to behold.

All in all, the ultimate lesson i got from the movie was this

Live life to its fullest. Go write a poem for that girl you heart dearly, even if it might sound stupid, crazy and blatantly psychotic. You'll be more of a man than those "uh" and "oh" types anyway. Run those 10km marathons and tell me if you don't feel invincible by the end. Be who you want to be, and make the change that you want to see in the world. We are not as hopeless as we think we are. We are educated, we are individuals, we should not live like how the TV wants us to be. We make our own rules. We define our future, no one else does.

So Please for The Love of Your Youth. Watch This Movie !!!!!

Be Inspired
Be the Change You Want to Be

AND

BE AWESOME WHILE DOING SO !!!

IM IN
are you ?
